In the year 2002 La Civière d'Or had two things to celebrate. First: Bruges being cultural capital of Europe together with Salamanca. Second: La Civière d'Or celebrated its fifty-fifth anniversary. All those years the Van Robaeys who ran this famous restaurant on Markt in Bruges.
Emile Van Robaeys, grandfather and founder of the restaurant, invented
one of its most renowned dishes, Lobster in Love - a creation based on
lobster in cream sauce flavoured with whisky and dry Martini.
Not to mention delicate classics like sweetbread in fine champagne sauce or duck breast and orange sauce or veal kidneys Liègois. Some thirty years ago, trout au bleu or fried with almonds was very popular, but it gradually lost its appeal.
Recently, Alain Van Robaeys put live trout back on the menu. Together
with various light meals and seasonal suggestions. The kitchen is open

and fresh baked waffles ans pancakes.
